Where things stand today
Go Solar Finder currently carries no affiliate links and displays no advertising. Nothing published here earns a commission.
This page is published before any of that is true, on purpose. The rules about money are worth stating while there is no money involved — it is more credible now than it would be as a retrospective explanation later. This page will be updated whenever the position changes.
If affiliate links are added
For a site that reviews inverters, panels, and batteries, the likely path is affiliate links to equipment, monitoring hardware, and accessories, where a purchase through a link earns a small commission from the retailer. If that happens, these are the rules:
You will be told on the page itself. A clear disclosure at the top of any article containing affiliate links, above the recommendation — not only in a footer, not in small print at the bottom of a 3,000-word guide.
It will never cost you more. An affiliate commission is paid by the retailer out of their margin. The price you pay through a link here is the price you would pay without it.
A commission will never change a verdict. Not the recommendation, not the ranking, not the score, and above all not the warnings. Where the honest answer is "buy the cheaper one", "the one you already own is fine", "wait for the next revision", or "none of these" — that is what the guide will say. A guide that cannot say "don't buy this" is not worth reading.
Products with no affiliate programme compete on equal terms. Plenty of equipment worth recommending pays nothing to anyone. Often the right answer for a household is a brand that earns this site nothing at all, and that answer will be given exactly as readily as a profitable one.
Availability and support decide which retailer gets linked, not the commission rate. A link should point at somewhere you can actually buy the thing and get help afterwards.
Advertising and sponsored content
No advertising is running today. If advertising or sponsored content ever appears here:
- It will be labelled clearly, at the top of the page, in plain language — "sponsored", not a euphemism.
- Advertisers get no influence over reviews, verdicts, rankings, comparisons, or troubleshooting content, and no sight of editorial content before it publishes.
- An advertiser's products get no protection from criticism. Buying advertising here does not buy a good review, and it does not buy the removal of a bad one.
Guest and contributed articles are held to the Editorial Policy like anything else. A guest contribution is not a route to a paid link or a paid recommendation.
What is never for sale
To be explicit, because these are the things brands actually ask for:
- Placement in a comparison or a "best of" list
- A score, a rating, or a verdict
- Removal or softening of criticism, a documented fault, or a warranty complaint
- A link inside an article that is not disclosed as commercial
There is no price for any of these. Offers to buy them are declined, not negotiated.
A note on prices
Prices and availability change constantly, and any figure quoted in an article is a snapshot from when it was written. The retailer's own page is always the authoritative source for what something costs today. See the Disclaimer for why cost and savings figures here are illustrations rather than quotes.
